Rotational Push-Up

The full push-up with a turn at the top: the chest and hips rotate toward one side while both hands stay on the floor, then return, alternating sides each rep.

How to do it

Setup

High plank, hands under the shoulders, feet a little wider than the hips.

Steps

  1. Lower the chest to just above the floor and press up.
  2. At the top, rotate the chest and hips toward one side, both hands down.
  3. Rotate back to the plank before lowering again, then turn the other way.

Common mistakes

Lowering before squaring up: finish the turn back first. Feet sliding on the turn: pivot on the toes, not the soles. Twisting only the shoulders: the hips turn with the chest.

Breathing

Inhale lowering, exhale pressing and turning.
