Push-Up to Side Plank
A push-up, then a turn onto one hand into a side plank with the top arm raised; the sides alternate.
How to do it
Setup
High plank, hands under the shoulders, feet hip-width.
Steps
- Lower the chest and press back up to the plank.
- Shift onto one hand and turn sideways, reaching the other arm to the ceiling.
- Hold the side plank a beat, hips high.
- Return to the plank and turn the other way after the next push-up.
Common mistakes
Hips sagging in the side plank: lift them into one line. The support hand ahead of the shoulder: stack the shoulder over the wrist. Rushing the turn: arrive in the plank before rotating.
Breathing
Inhale down, exhale on the press and the turn.
