Decline Leg Hip Raise

On a sloped bench, head at the top, the long legs tuck in and the hips lift off the pad; the slope lengthens the range.

How to do it

Setup

Lying head-up on a decline bench, gripping its top end behind the head, legs stretched out below the low end.

Steps

  1. Tuck the knees toward the chest from the long position.
  2. Roll the hips off the pad as the knees pass the chest.
  3. Stretch the legs back down along the slope without touching.

Common mistakes

Stopping at the knee tuck: that is the decline knee raise; the hips lift too. Legs crashing down the slope: extend them slowly. Pulling with the arms: they hold the bench; the abs curl you.

Breathing

Exhale drawing the knees in, inhale extending.
