Cable Standing One-Leg Calf Raise

The one-leg calf raise at a cable column, the low cable pulling down from a hip belt, the hands on the frame for balance.

How to do it

Setup

Facing the stack, low cable on a hip belt, one foot on a plate, the other hooked behind.

Steps

  1. Rise on the working foot as high as the heel goes.
  2. Hips over the foot, the cable hanging straight.
  3. Lower the heel, and trade legs when the set is done.

Common mistakes

Pulling on the frame: the hands only balance. Hips drifting toward the stack: stand back until the cable hangs straight. Knee bending to heave the weight: the leg stays long.

Breathing

Exhale rising, inhale lowering.
