Bodyweight Standing Calf Raise

The calf raise on the floor with bodyweight alone: no step and no hand support, so balance is part of every rep.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, feet hip-width and parallel, arms relaxed at the sides.

Steps

  1. Rise onto the balls of both feet, straight up.
  2. Pause at the top, balanced over the big toes.
  3. Come down slowly until the heels touch.

Common mistakes

Tipping forward onto the toes: rise straight up, hips over the feet. Falling from the top: lower the heels slowly. Quick shallow reps: rise all the way every time.

Breathing

Exhale rising, inhale lowering.
