Cable Leaning Lateral Raise

The one-arm cable lateral raise with the body leaning away from the frame on a straight holding arm; the arm starts lower across the body, so the arc is longer.

How to do it

Setup

Side-on to a low pulley, near hand gripping the frame, body leaning away on that straight arm, handle in the far hand.

Steps

  1. Raise the working arm out to the side to shoulder height.
  2. Hold the lean steady; only the working arm moves.
  3. Lower the handle back across the body under control.

Common mistakes

Pulling the body upright to finish the rep: the lean is fixed; the arm does the work. Shrugging the working shoulder: blade down, neck long. Bending the holding arm: keep it straight so the angle stays the same every rep.

Breathing

Exhale on the raise, inhale lowering.
