Cable Hanging Leg Raise

The hanging knee raise with the ankles strapped to the low cables; the stack loads the legs, so the tuck works against a set weight.

How to do it

Setup

Hanging from a bar inside a cable station, ankle straps on, the cables running to the low pulleys.

Steps

  1. Draw the knees up to hip height against the cables.
  2. Curl the pelvis up a little at the top.
  3. Lower the legs slowly, letting the stack settle.

Common mistakes

Cables yanking the legs back down: resist them all the way to the hang. Body swinging toward a pulley: brace and keep the hips under the bar. Too heavy a stack: the knees stall below hip height; lighten it.

Breathing

Exhale on the raise, inhale lowering.
