Broad Jump to Vertical

A standing broad jump followed at once by a vertical jump from the landing; the landing becomes the take-off.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, feet hip-width, open floor in front.

Steps

  1. Swing the arms and jump forward as far as you can.
  2. Land on both feet, hips back, and jump straight up at once.
  3. Land softly on bent knees and walk back to the start.

Common mistakes

Landing stiff from the broad jump: soft knees absorb it before the second jump. Knees caving on the take-off: keep them over the toes. Rushing into the next rep: reset fully between rounds.

Breathing

Exhale on each jump, inhale walking back.
