Box Jump Down with One-Leg Stabilization

Step off a low box and land on one leg, sinking softly into a quarter squat and holding the landing still before the next rep.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall on a low box, feet together at its edge, arms by the sides.

Steps

  1. Step off the edge, the landing leg reaching down.
  2. Land softly on the whole foot of one leg, the knee over the toes.
  3. Hold the landing still for a beat, then step back up.

Common mistakes

Landing stiff-legged: bend the knee and the hip as the foot touches. Knee caving on the landing: track it over the middle toes. Box too high to stick the landing: lower beats sloppy.

Breathing

Exhale on the landing, inhale stepping back up.
