Bodyweight Overhead Forward Lunge
The forward lunge with both arms held straight overhead; the raised arms make the torso work to stay upright.
How to do it
Setup
Standing tall, arms straight overhead, hands together, feet hip-width.
Steps
- Step into a lunge, arms staying over the shoulders.
- Lower the back knee toward the floor.
- Drive back to the start without dropping the arms.
Common mistakes
Arms drifting forward: keep them beside the ears. Lower back arching under the raised arms: ribs down, abs tight. Short, choppy steps: step long enough for both knees to bend near 90°.
Breathing
Inhale on the step, exhale pushing back.
