Bodyweight Quarter Squat
A shallow bodyweight squat, hands on the hips, bending the knees only about a quarter of the way down before standing again.
How to do it
Setup
Feet hip-width, hands on the hips, chest up.
Steps
- Push the hips back and bend the knees a short way.
- Stop well above parallel, the heels down.
- Press back up to straight legs.
Common mistakes
Knees shooting forward alone: send the hips back too. Sinking deeper as the set goes on: the quarter depth is the exercise; hold it. Locking the knees hard at the top: stand just short of snapping them.
Breathing
Inhale down, exhale up.
