Machine Angled Single-Leg Press

The single-leg press in an angled lever machine: the platform swings on a lever arm rather than sliding on rails, and the free leg rests off it.

How to do it

Setup

Back and hips on the reclined pad, one foot mid-platform, the other off it.

Steps

  1. Bend the knee and let the platform come in as far as the hip stays down.
  2. Press it away through the whole foot.
  3. Keep the knee soft at the top and switch legs after the set.

Common mistakes

Hip lifting off the pad as the knee comes in: shorten the range. Pushing through the toes: the heel lifts and the knee takes it; drive with the whole foot. Heavy plates lowered fast: the arc is long; lower slowly.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale pressing.
