Bodyweight Low Split Squat

A split squat from an extra-long stance, the hips sinking low between the feet while the rear leg stays long behind.

How to do it

Setup

Feet an extra-long stride apart, rear heel up, arms at the sides.

Steps

  1. Sink the hips straight down between the feet.
  2. Let the front knee travel forward, rear leg long.
  3. Drive up through the front foot.

Common mistakes

Rear knee bending into an ordinary lunge: keep that leg long. Front heel lifting as the knee travels: press it down. Torso folding forward: the hips go down, not back.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
