Barbell Suitcase Carry
Walk holding a barbell at one side by its middle, like a suitcase; the long bar tips at the smallest lean, so the grip and the far-side trunk stay busy.
How to do it
Setup
Bar deadlifted to one side, hand at its balance point, shoulders level, the bar parallel to the floor.
Steps
- Walk tall with the bar held level.
- Squeeze the bar hard enough to stop it rotating.
- Set it down with a flat back, switch sides and walk back.
Common mistakes
Hand off the balance point: one end dips and drags you over; find the middle before walking. Leaning away from the load: level shoulders, tall spine. Plates clipping the legs: walk with the bar just clear of the thigh.
Breathing
Steady throughout the walk.
