Barbell Zercher Carry
Walk with a barbell cradled in the crooks of the elbows, hands clasped; the front load pulls the chest forward and the whole trunk holds it upright.
How to do it
Setup
Bar taken from a rack at waist height into the crooks of the elbows, hands clasped, elbows tight to the body.
Steps
- Stand tall and walk, the bar hugged close to the body.
- Keep the chest up and the upper back tight.
- Return the bar to the rack at the end.
Common mistakes
Bar digging into bare elbows: a pad or a towel under it before the walk. Upper back rounding under the load: chest up, elbows in. Hands unclasping as the arms tire: keep them locked together.
Breathing
Steady and shallow throughout; never held.
