Strongman Timber Carry
Walk inside a loaded timber frame, lifted by its side rails at arm's length; a farmer's carry with one wide, heavy implement that swings if the steps are uneven.
How to do it
Setup
Standing inside the frame, hips hinged, gripping the rails at the balance point, then deadlifted to standing.
Steps
- Walk with short, even steps so the frame does not swing.
- Keep the shoulders down and the arms long.
- Set the frame down evenly with a flat back.
Common mistakes
Gripping off the balance point: the front or back end dips and drags; find the middle first. Long strides: the frame swings and throws you off line. Letting the frame crash down: lower it with the hips back and the back flat.
Breathing
Steady throughout the walk.
