Weighted Sandbag Carry (Bear Hug)
Walk with a sandbag hugged upright against the chest, arms locked around it; the shifting sand keeps the grip and the upper back working.
How to do it
Setup
Bag stood on end and hugged to the chest, arms wrapped round it and crossed in front, elbows in.
Steps
- Walk tall, the bag squeezed against the chest.
- Keep the chin up so the bag cannot push the head forward.
- Set it down by sitting the hips back.
Common mistakes
Bag sliding down the belly: hitch it back up and squeeze tighter. Leaning back behind the load: ribs over the hips. Holding the breath for the whole walk: short breaths behind a braced trunk.
Breathing
Steady and shallow throughout; never held.
