Barbell Incline Front Raise with Chest Support

The barbell front raise lying chest-down on an incline bench; the pad holds the torso still, so the front delts lift alone.

How to do it

Setup

Chest on an incline bench, toes on the floor, a barbell hanging under the shoulders in an overhand grip.

Steps

  1. Raise the bar on straight arms until they are in line with the body.
  2. Keep the chest on the pad and the wrists straight.
  3. Lower the bar slowly back under the shoulders.

Common mistakes

Chest lifting off the pad: the bench holds you; take a lighter bar. Bending the elbows to help: arms long, the shoulders do the lift. Dropping the bar at the bottom: lower it as slowly as you raised it.

Breathing

Exhale on the raise, inhale lowering.
