Machine Reverse Shoulder Press (Plate-Loaded)
The plate-loaded shoulder press sitting the other way round, chest against the pad, the handles driven up and forward along the lever's path.
How to do it
Setup
Seated facing the pad, chest against it, handles at shoulder height in front.
Steps
- Drive the handles up until the arms are straight.
- Keep the chest on the pad as the arms rise.
- Lower the handles to shoulder height without letting the plates rest.
Common mistakes
Chest leaving the pad to push higher: the pad fixes the torso; stay on it. Shrugging the shoulders up with the handles: blades down, then press. Seat set too high or low: the handles should start level with the shoulders.
Breathing
Exhale pressing, inhale returning.
