Quickly Swing Arms in Place

Standing in a split stance, the bent arms swing fast and in turn, one hand up to face height as the other drives back past the hip.

How to do it

Setup

Split stance, knees soft, elbows bent to about 90°, one arm forward and one back.

Steps

  1. Swing the arms in turn, the front hand up to face height and the back hand past the hip.
  2. Keep the elbows bent and the shoulders relaxed.
  3. Keep a fast, even rhythm for the set.

Common mistakes

Shrugging as the pace rises: shoulders down, neck long. Arms crossing the body: swing them straight forward and back. Torso twisting with every swing: the hips stay square; only the arms move.

Breathing

Fast steady rhythm.
