Weighted Steel Mace Halo
The halo with a steel mace: held upright by the handle, the heavy head circles around the head, behind the neck and back to the front.
How to do it
Setup
Standing wide, the mace held upright in front by the end of the handle, one hand above the other.
Steps
- Lead the head of the mace to one side and behind the head, hands passing over it.
- Keep the handle close to the head as the head of the mace drops behind the neck.
- Bring it round the other side and up to the start; alternate the direction.
Common mistakes
Swinging the mace wide of the head: keep the hands close so the circle stays small. Ribs flaring as the mace passes behind: brace; only the arms and shoulders move. Letting the head of the mace drop fast behind the neck: control the whole circle.
Breathing
Steady throughout; never held.
