Assisted Lying Leg Raise with Lateral Throw Down

The partner leg throw-down pushed to one side at a time; the obliques catch the legs as they fall off to the side.

How to do it

Setup

On your back, hands gripping a standing partner's ankles behind the head, legs straight up.

Steps

  1. Raise the legs to the partner's hands.
  2. Catch them as they are pushed down and to one side.
  3. Bring them back up; the next push goes the other way.

Common mistakes

Hips rolling off the floor with the legs: keep the shoulder blades and pelvis down. Pushes too wide or too hard: short, controlled angles. Knees bending to save a rep: straight legs, or end the set.

Breathing

Exhale as the legs rise, inhale as they lower.
