Archer Pull-Up

A wide-grip pull-up that rises toward one hand while the other arm straightens along the bar; the bent arm carries most of the load, alternating sides.

How to do it

Setup

Hang from the bar with an overhand grip well outside the shoulders, arms straight.

Steps

  1. Pull toward one hand, straightening the other arm along the bar.
  2. Bring the chin up beside the working hand.
  3. Lower to the middle and pull toward the other side next.

Common mistakes

Bending both arms equally: the far arm stays nearly straight; that is the archer. Body swinging toward the working side: pull the chest up, not across with momentum. Wrists twisting on the straight arm: let the hand roll over the bar.

Breathing

Exhale on each pull, inhale lowering.
