Ring Row

Hang under the rings with the body straight, heels on the floor, and pull the chest to the rings; walk the feet forward to make it harder.

Ring Row, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

Rings at hip height; hang under them with straight arms, heels on the floor, body one rigid line.

Steps

  1. Pull the chest to the rings, driving the elbows behind the torso.
  2. Squeeze the shoulder blades together at the top.
  3. Lower yourself back to straight arms with control.

Common mistakes

Hips sagging out of the line: brace the abs and squeeze the glutes. Rings drifting apart at the top: pull them to the ribs. Too easy or too hard: walk the feet forward to load it, back to unload; the angle is the weight.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale on the way down.
