Alternate Leg Raise with Head-Up

With the head and shoulders curled up, raise one straight leg toward vertical while the other hovers low, then switch.

How to do it

Setup

On the back, hands under the hips, head and shoulders lifted, both straight legs hovering.

Steps

  1. Raise one leg toward vertical as the other stays just off the floor.
  2. Lower it as the other rises.
  3. Keep switching, the head up and the lower back down.

Common mistakes

Head sinking between switches: hold the crunch the whole set. Low leg touching the floor: it hovers. Knees bending as the legs tire: keep both long.

Breathing

Exhale on each switch, steady in between.
