Wrist Full Push-Up

The full push-up on the backs of the hands, fingers pointing forward; the chest does the pressing while the wrists hold deep flexion.

How to do it

Setup

High plank on the backs of the hands, fingers pointing forward, hands under the shoulders.

Steps

  1. Lower the chest toward the floor, elbows tracking back.
  2. Keep the wrists still; the body moves over them.
  3. Press up until the arms are straight.

Common mistakes

Going straight to the full push-up: learn the wrist position on the knees and in the wrist rocks first. Fingers turned out to the sides: point them forward so the wrist bends one way. Pushing through wrist pain: stop; this hand position is no place to grind.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale on the press.
