Knuckle Push-Up

The push-up on the fists instead of the palms; the wrists stay straight, and the fists add a little depth.

How to do it

Setup

High plank on closed fists under the shoulders, knuckles on the floor, wrists straight, a soft mat under the hands.

Steps

  1. Lower the chest to just above the floor.
  2. Keep the fists tight and the wrists in line with the forearms.
  3. Press back up to straight arms.

Common mistakes

Wrists bending on the fists: keep them straight; go to the knees if they wobble. Bare knuckles on a hard floor: use a mat. Fists turned out wide: knuckles point forward under the shoulders.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale on the press.
