Kneeling Wide Hand Push-Up

The kneeling push-up with the hands set well outside the shoulders; the short lever makes the wide chest-focused push-up manageable.

How to do it

Setup

On the knees, hands wider than the shoulders, body straight from head to knees.

Steps

  1. Lower the chest to just above the floor between the hands.
  2. Keep the forearms close to vertical at the bottom.
  3. Press back up, the head-to-knees line unbroken.

Common mistakes

Hands so wide the elbows splay flat: bring them in until the forearms stand upright. Bending at the hips: the line runs head to knees. Half depth: the kneeling version exists to allow full depth.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale pressing.
