Lay Down Push-Up

Each rep lowers the body flat onto the floor, sweeps both arms forward past the head and back, then sets the hands under the shoulders to press up.

How to do it

Setup

High plank, hands under the shoulders, feet hip-width, room in front for the arms.

Steps

  1. Lower all the way until the body lies flat on the floor.
  2. Sweep both arms forward past the head, just off the floor, and bring them back.
  3. Plant the hands under the shoulders and press up in one piece.

Common mistakes

Rising hips first after the rest: chest and hips leave the floor together. Arms dragging along the floor: lift them just clear of it. Hands landing too far forward: back under the shoulders before pressing.

Breathing

Inhale lowering, exhale pressing.
