Kettlebell Plyo Push-Up

A push-up with one hand on an upright kettlebell: the push drives the body sideways over the bell so the other hand lands on it.

How to do it

Setup

High plank, one hand on the handle of an upright kettlebell, the other on the floor.

Steps

  1. Lower the chest and push up explosively.
  2. Shift sideways in the air and land with the other hand on the bell.
  3. Absorb the landing into the next push-up and cross back.

Common mistakes

Kettlebell too light and wobbly: a heavy bell stands still. Landing on a locked elbow: land soft and sink into the next rep. Grinding reps once the push slows: explosive sets end early.

Breathing

Sharp exhale on the drive.
