Wide to Narrow Push-Up

Push-ups that change hand width between reps: one with the hands wide, then the hands walk in for one with them under the shoulders or closer, and back out.

How to do it

Setup

High plank with the hands wide, feet hip-width.

Steps

  1. Do a push-up with the hands wide.
  2. Walk the hands in one at a time and do a push-up with them close.
  3. Walk them back out for the next wide rep.

Common mistakes

Hips swaying as the hands walk: brace the plank during every step. Narrow rep with the elbows flaring: in close, they track along the ribs. Hands landing at random widths: keep the two positions the same every rep.

Breathing

Inhale lowering, exhale pressing.
