Push-Up and Triceps Dip on Parallel Bars

A push-up on low parallel bars, then the legs swing through between the bars to a seated dip and back: two presses in one rep.

How to do it

Setup

Low parallel bars set wider than the hips, hands on them, push-up plank.

Steps

  1. Do a push-up, chest lowered between the bars.
  2. Tuck the knees and swing the legs forward through the bars, heels to the floor.
  3. Dip: elbows straight back, hips close to the bars, then press up.
  4. Swing the legs back through to the plank for the next rep.

Common mistakes

Bars too narrow for the legs to pass: set them wider than the hips first. Rushing the swing and landing hard: pass the legs through slowly, heels down softly. Hips drifting away from the bars in the dip: keep them close.

Breathing

Inhale lowering, exhale on each press.
