Weighted Standing Twist
The standing twist holding a plate close in front of the chest; the plate adds load to each turn while the hips stay square.
How to do it
Setup
Standing, feet wider than the hips, a plate gripped at both sides in front of the chest, elbows bent.
Steps
- Turn the chest and the plate to one side.
- Keep the plate close and the hips square.
- Return through the middle and turn to the other side.
Common mistakes
Plate drifting away from the chest: keep the elbows bent and the plate close. Letting the plate's momentum finish the turn: slow down and pause on each side. Hips and knees turning along: point them forward.
Breathing
Exhale on each twist, inhale through the middle.
