Weighted Squat
Standing on two benches, a plate hangs from a hip belt between them; the squat goes deeper than the floor allows and spares the back.
How to do it
Setup
A foot on each bench, the plate on a belt at the hips, arms forward.
Steps
- Squat down as the plate sinks between the benches.
- Keep the torso upright, arms forward.
- Stand, pushing through both benches.
Common mistakes
Plate hitting the floor at depth: shorten the chain or raise the benches. Feet near the benches' edges: set them firmly in the middle. Belt riding up the waist: fasten it low on the hips.
Breathing
Inhale down, exhale up.
