Weighted Round Arm

A plate held by its rim at shoulder height on straight arms and turned like a steering wheel, one way and then the other; the front delts hold the load up the whole set.

How to do it

Setup

Standing, a plate gripped at its rim in both hands, arms straight in front at shoulder height.

Steps

  1. Turn the plate one way until one hand is on top and the other below.
  2. Turn it back past the middle and over the other way.
  3. Keep the plate at shoulder height and the arms straight throughout.

Common mistakes

The plate sinking as the arms tire: keep it at shoulder height or take a lighter one. Twisting the trunk with the plate: hips and chest face forward; only the arms turn it. Bending the elbows to ease the load: straight arms from the first turn to the last.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
