Weighted Hanging Leg-Hip Raise

The hanging knee raise with a dumbbell held between the feet; the extra weight at the far end makes every tuck heavier.

How to do it

Setup

Hang from the bar, shoulders set, a dumbbell gripped upright between the feet.

Steps

  1. Draw the knees up toward the chest, the bell held tight between the feet.
  2. Curl the hips up at the top.
  3. Lower to a full hang without letting the bell swing.

Common mistakes

Dumbbell slipping from the feet: squeeze it hard and start light over a clear floor. Swinging to lift the weight: stop dead at the bottom of each rep. Stopping at hip height: finish with the hips curled up.

Breathing

Exhale on the raise, inhale lowering.
