Weighted Full Squat from Deficit

A belt squat standing on two boxes: a plate hangs from a dip belt between the feet, so the squat can go deep while the load stays off the spine.

How to do it

Setup

One foot on each of two boxes, a dip belt on the hips with a plate hanging on its chain between them, arms straight out in front.

Steps

  1. Squat straight down, the plate sinking between the boxes.
  2. Go as deep as the hips allow with the chest up.
  3. Drive up through the whole foot to stand tall.

Common mistakes

Feet near the edges of the boxes: stand squarely on them before the first rep. Plate swinging: lower and rise at a steady pace. Knees caving at the bottom: push them out over the toes.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
