Reverse Lunge Arm Reach Twist
A reverse lunge that opens at the bottom: the chest turns toward the front leg while one arm reaches up and back and the other down toward the back foot.
How to do it
Setup
Standing tall with the feet hip-width, arms loose.
Steps
- Step one foot back and lower the back knee toward the floor.
- Turn the chest to the front leg, one arm reaching up and back, the other down.
- Turn back to the front, step up to standing and switch legs.
Common mistakes
Front knee caving as the chest turns: keep it over the middle toes. Twisting from the knees instead of the trunk: the hips stay square and the chest turns. Reaching the low hand down by rounding over: keep the chest long and let the turn carry the arm.
Breathing
Inhale into the lunge, exhale on the turn.
