Kettlebell Side Squat Step
Holding a kettlebell at the chest, step out to the side into a wide squat, stand, bring the other foot in and go again; the bell loads the legs as the steps travel sideways.
How to do it
Setup
Feet together, a kettlebell held by the horns at the chest, elbows down.
Steps
- Step one foot out wide and squat until the thighs are about level.
- Stand up, then step the other foot in to bring the feet together.
- Keep traveling the same way, then come back the other way.
Common mistakes
Bell pulling the chest forward in the squat: keep the elbows down and the chest tall. Stepping foot landing with the toes turned in: set it down pointing forward or slightly out. Knees caving at the bottom: push them out over the toes.
Breathing
Inhale down, exhale up.
