Walking Lunge

Lunge forward and bring the back foot through into the next step; keep the torso upright the whole way.

Walking Lunge, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, hands free or at the chest, clear runway ahead.

Steps

  1. Lunge forward, back knee toward the floor.
  2. Drive up and bring the back foot THROUGH into the next lunge.
  3. Keep the torso tall through every step.

Common mistakes

Standing fully between steps: the walk flows; rise into the next step. Narrow tightrope steps: keep hip-width tracks. Depth fading: same knee-hover every step.

Breathing

Inhale into each lunge, exhale driving through.
