Walk Leg Kick

Walk forward kicking one straight leg up in front with every step; a dynamic warm-up for the hip flexors and the backs of the legs.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall with a clear path ahead, fists up at the chest.

Steps

  1. Step forward and kick the back leg straight up in front.
  2. Keep the standing leg long and the chest tall at the top of the kick.
  3. Set the foot down ahead and kick the other leg on the next step.

Common mistakes

Bending the kicking knee to get higher: the leg stays straight; height comes with weeks. Rounding forward to meet the leg: the chest stays up. Throwing the leg hard: swing it under control.

Breathing

Exhale on each kick, inhale on the step.
