TRX Shoulder External Rotation

Leaning back on the TRX handles with the upper arms out at shoulder height, turn the forearms up to vertical; the rotation itself pulls the body upright.

How to do it

Setup

Facing the anchor, handles in both hands, upper arms out to the sides at shoulder height, elbows bent to 90°, body leaning back in one line.

Steps

  1. Rotate the forearms up until the hands are beside the head.
  2. Let the body rise with the turn, heels planted.
  3. Lower back into the lean slowly, elbows still at shoulder height.

Common mistakes

Rowing with the arms instead of rotating: the elbows stay put and only the forearms turn. Hips sagging out of line: squeeze the glutes. Leaning too far to control it: step back and stand more upright.

Breathing

Exhale on the raise, inhale lowering.
