TRX Forward Lunge with Overhead Raise

A forward lunge holding the TRX handles: the straight arms rise overhead as you sink and sweep back down in front as you stand.

How to do it

Setup

Facing the anchor, handles at arm's length in front at shoulder height, straps taut, feet hip-width.

Steps

  1. Step one foot forward and sink into the lunge as the straight arms rise overhead.
  2. Keep the straps taut and the torso tall at the bottom.
  3. Drive up through the front heel, sweeping the arms back down in front; alternate legs.

Common mistakes

Front knee diving past the toes: step far enough that the shin stays near vertical. Bending the elbows as the arms go up: keep them straight; the long lever is the point. Letting the straps go slack at the bottom: lean into them so they stay taut.

Breathing

Inhale sinking into the lunge, exhale standing.
