Trap Bar Deadlift

Standing inside the hex bar, the load sits in line with the hips; the back stays more upright and the quads take a bigger share.

How to do it

Setup

Stand inside the hex bar, grip the handles, hips wedged, back flat.

Steps

  1. Push the floor away – the load rises in line with the hips.
  2. Stand tall, no lean-back.
  3. Return with a hinge, handles tracking the legs.

Common mistakes

Squatting it into a leg press: it is still a deadlift; hips drive. Drifting forward in the hex: stay centered. Slamming the plates: quiet returns build more.

Breathing

Big breath at the bottom, exhale after lockout.
