Straight Leg Kickback (Kneeling)

The kneeling kickback with the leg held long: a longer lever than the bent-knee version, and the hamstrings help more.

How to do it

Setup

On all fours, one leg stretched back with the toes on the floor.

Steps

  1. Lift the straight leg to hip height.
  2. Hold the line from heel to head for a beat.
  3. Lower the toes to the floor; finish the side.

Common mistakes

Lifting past hip height: the lower back arches; stop at the line. Knee bending mid-rep: the lever stays long. Hips opening toward the ceiling: square to the floor.

Breathing

Exhale lifting, inhale lowering.
