Standing Single-Leg Calf Rock
Holding a chair with one foot a step behind, rock the weight forward and back so the back heel presses down to stretch the calf, then lifts onto the ball of the foot.
How to do it
Setup
Standing side-on to a chair, one hand on its back, one foot a short step behind the other, weight between them.
Steps
- Shift the weight forward and press the back heel into the floor, knee straight.
- Rock back and let the back heel rise onto the ball of the foot.
- Keep rocking at an even pace, then switch legs.
Common mistakes
Bending the back knee as the heel goes down: keep it straight so the calf stretches. Rocking so fast the heel slaps: move slowly, heel down and up. Letting go of the chair: keep a hand on it for balance.
Breathing
Steady with the rhythm.
