Lying Calf Stretch
Lying on the back with both straight legs raised to the ceiling, flex the feet to draw the toes toward the face; the calves stretch with no load on them.
How to do it
Setup
Lying on the back, both legs raised straight toward the ceiling, arms long on the floor.
Steps
- Flex both feet, drawing the toes toward the face.
- Keep the knees straight so the calves take the stretch.
- Hold and breathe, then point the feet and lower the legs.
Common mistakes
Knees bending as the feet flex: keep the legs long, and lower them a little if the backs of the thighs pull. Lower back arching off the floor: press it down and let the legs tip slightly toward the face. Curling only the toes: move the whole foot from the ankle.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
