Stability Ball Lat Stretch

On all fours with one hand on a stability ball, roll it forward on a straight arm and let the chest sink; that side's lat lengthens.

How to do it

Setup

Kneeling on all fours, a stability ball in front of one shoulder, that hand on top of it.

Steps

  1. Roll the ball forward until the arm is straight.
  2. Sink the chest toward the floor, the hips over the knees.
  3. Hold and breathe, then roll back and switch arms.

Common mistakes

Sitting back onto the heels: keep the hips over the knees so the lat, not the back, stretches. Ball rolling off to the side: keep it straight in front of the shoulder. Shoulder jammed to the ear: let it slide away from the head.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
