Back Pec Stretch

Hinged forward with the hands on the top of an incline bench, let the chest sink between straight arms; the lats and chest lengthen.

How to do it

Setup

Facing an incline bench, feet hip-width, hinged at the hips, both hands on the top of the backrest, arms straight.

Steps

  1. Walk the feet back until the arms and back form a line.
  2. Let the chest and head sink below the arms.
  3. Hold and breathe, then walk in and stand up slowly.

Common mistakes

Knees locked hard: keep them soft so the stretch stays in the back. Shoulders jammed up at the ears: let the blades slide toward the hips. Bouncing the chest down: sink slowly and hold.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
