Stability Ball Alternating Arm-Ups

Lying face down over a stability ball with the hands on the floor, raise one straight arm forward and out to about head height, then the other.

How to do it

Setup

Hips and belly over the ball, toes on the floor behind, hands on the floor in front, body in one line.

Steps

  1. Lift one straight arm forward and slightly out, thumb up.
  2. Hold it level with the head for a beat.
  3. Lower it to the floor and lift the other.

Common mistakes

Ball rolling as the arm lifts: brace the toes and move slowly. Twisting the chest toward the lifted arm: shoulders stay level. Arm rising above the head by arching the back: stop at head height.

Breathing

Exhale on the raise, inhale lowering.
